Ingredients:
1-2/3 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup HERSHEY'S Cocoa
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnnamon Dash ground nutmeg
1/2 cup shortening
2 eggs
1 cup applesauce
1/2 cup chopped pecans
VANILLA GLAZE (recipe follows)
Instructions:
1. Heat oven to 350°F. Grease bottom only of 9x5x3-inch loaf pan.
2. In large bowl, stir together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, salt,
cinnamon and nutmeg. Add shortening, eggs and applesauce;
beat just until blended. Stir in pecans. Spoon mixture into prepared pan.
3. Bake 50 to 55 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 15
minutes; remove from pan to wire rack. Cool completely. Prepare VANILLA GLAZE; drizzle
over bread. 1 loaf (14 servings).
VANILLA GLAZE: In small bowl, stir together 1/2 cup powdered sugar and 3 to 4 teaspoons
milk. About 1/4 cup glaze.
